Clinical Hypnosis
Clinical Hypnosis
Have you ever been so absorbed in a book or movie that you missed someone when they called your name? Or while driving you found yourself arriving at your destination without recalling the details of the drive? Or sat gazing at the ocean and feeling so lost in the moment that time passed by easily and you were unaware? All of these examples involve hypnotic trance.
Clinical hypnosis or hypnotherapy involves heightened focus and concentration. People report feeling deeply calm, peaceful and a comfortable relaxation in mind and body.
This allows our busy minds to slow down in a beautiful relaxed feeling. In hypnosis, people feel exceptionally calm and relaxed, allowing you to more easily work on and achieve your goals. Hypnosis can help you gain a feeling of mastery of undesired behaviors and patterns, allowing you to cope better with anxiety, stress and pain, as well as allowing you to make the changes and reach the goals you desire.
It’s essential to know that although you’re more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you don’t lose control over your behavior. Hollywood has created extremely entertaining but unrealistic portrayals of what hypnosis is. The hypnotist is typically shown having complete control of the subject; this is not based on reality. While I find those portrayals occasionally funny (and often ridiculous), it has created a negative and untrue impression of what hypnosis is and what it can do for you. All hypnosis is truly self-hypnosis.
Hypnosis can help with anxieties, stress, fertility challenges, irritable bowel syndrome, dental procedures and headaches. The technique has been used successfully with insomnia, smoking, overeating and supporting healthy habits. It can help in supporting medical procedures, pre/post surgery issues, help ease side effects related to cancer, chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Help yourself by moving beyond self-destructive and self-defeating patterns.
Public speaking, social anxiety, academic stress, sports and performing arts performance have been transformed with hypnosis, which can help you develop, enhance and hone abilities, skills and gifts.
Hypnosis is not magic but it can be a powerful tool in helping you create and reach the kinds of changes you want.
