EMDR & Brainspotting

When I first heard about EMDR and Brainspotting (therapeutic techniques to help clients deal with unresolved emotional issues), I was skeptical. As friends and colleagues shared positive and surprising experiences of change using both modalities, I decided to train in both techniques. The results my clients have reported are transformative. Both are new, safe, and healing emotional tools that reduce the need for extensive talk treatment.

Brainspotting and EMDR can be an effective and efficient treatment tool for:

  • Anxiety and Panic
  • Depression
  • Physical and Emotional Trauma
  • OCD
  • Recovery from Injury and Accident Trauma
  • Addictions
  • Stuttering
  • Procrastination
  • Anger and Rage Problems
  • Management of Major Medical Illness
  • Stress
  • Sports Psychology
  • Trauma resulting from War and Natural Disasters
  • Enhance Sports or Artistic Performance and Creativity
  • Boost Self-Confidence and Concentration

Both EMDR and Brainspotting are brain-based therapies and approaches to healing and wellness that is based in the body’s nervous system.  The techniques are powerful tools to neurobiologically locate, focus, process, and release experiences and symptoms, leading to transformational change that is emotional, psychological, and physical. Both are neurophysiological techniques that provide emotional and physical benefits and the transformative results can be faster than traditional talk therapy alone.

Harnessing the body’s biological systems of healing, EMDR and Brainspotting addresses those ‘stuck’ memories so they can resume being naturally processed and seeks to rebuild and repair our sense of self.  When this happens, the prior emotional activation eases and there is a decrease or an elimination of distress from the disturbing memories and emotions, as well as an increase in a positive sense of self.
